What We Do...
About Us
We are a New Zealand-based registered charity (CC59148) dedicated to enriching the lives of children. Our current focus is on addressing the shortage of facilities that cater to disabled children across the country.
Our Mission
We aim to make New Zealand the most disability-friendly region in the world, starting with accessible playgrounds. We are proud to have reached our first milestones: contributing $10,000 towards a wheelchair swing for Waipu Park in 2024 and contributing $10,000 towards a wheelchair seesaw for Raumanga park Whangarei in 2025 .
Our goals include:
- Creating shared experiences: Organizing events where disabled children, their parents, and siblings can enjoy time together.
- Expanding accessible sensory programs: Developing more wheelchair-friendly outdoor sensory spaces and equipment in public areas to ensure every disabled child feels welcome and included in New Zealand.
Together, we can build a future where all children have access to play, adventure, and joy!

A little Bit about Us...
Who We Are
We are a passionate and growing group of Northland-based New Zealanders committed to ensuring that disabled children can thrive and grow alongside their peers. Our mission is to right past inequalities and create a level playing field for all.
Our Focus
We are dedicated to improving accessibility for young disabled individuals, many of whom rely on wheelchairs to engage with their community. Our vision is a fully accessible and inclusive society where everyone can participate and belong.
Kids Book's
The Fun-tastic Part of Our Mission
At Children with Disability New Zealand, a key part of our mission is to normalize disability. We believe all children should be treated equally so that, as they grow into adults, they feel fully accepted and valued within society.
To support this goal, we’ve created a collection of downloadable children's books. Introducing the Boundless Dreams series – an enchanting collection of children's e-books designed to spark imagination and inspire young hearts.
Our e-books are free to download and save to your device, so you can enjoy them anytime. Join us in promoting inclusion and equality through these inspiring stories!
Playgrounds...
A Whangārei mother of a 9-year-old child with a chromosome abnormality has expressed disappointment over the lack of disability-friendly playgrounds, despite the district boasting 36 playgrounds and four skateboard parks.
An Official Information Act (OIA) request to the Ministry of Health revealed that, as of August 2, 2021, 372 children under 18 in Whangārei (799 in Northland and 13,960 across New Zealand) are receiving disability support through Needs Assessment Service Coordination Services.
This highlights the urgent need for more inclusive recreational spaces in the region.
